BCA Men’s Shed team revitalise sheds at Rose House

A major piece of work in 2025 for the Men’s Shed volunteers was the renovation of the three storage sheds behind Rose House, the home of the BCA, which are used to store essential Barnes Fair equipment. Over a three-month period, seven dedicated volunteers from the Men’s Shed generously gave their time and skills to bring the sheds back into good working order.

The work involved repairing leaking roofs, replacing rotten shiplap planks and runners, re-felting and re-planking the structures, and finishing everything off with a fresh coat of paint. What had become tired and weather-worn storage spaces are now secure, weatherproof and fit for purpose once again.

This project is a great example of the value of practical volunteering and community collaboration. The BCA is absolutely delighted with the outcome and hugely grateful to the Men’s Shed volunteers for their hard work, commitment and craftsmanship.
