Tips for Protecting Nature
Meet Russell, BCA Greenkeeper
Russell has been the dedicated Greenkeeper at Barnes since 2013, a role that grew from the redevelopment of Barnes Pond following its sudden draining in 2001. His work is essential to maintaining the beauty and biodiversity of The Green, with a particular focus on managing the pond as a local wildlife haven and community space. Russell collaborates closely with the Council, contractors, local businesses, and residents to ensure The Green remains a treasured part of Barnes.
The Greenkeeper role is funded jointly by the BCA and the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, and thanks to the support of BCA members, we can continue to preserve this vital part of our community. Your membership fees help ensure that Russell can keep our Green flourishing for years to come.
