Barnes Community Association to pause Food Fair
For 13 wonderful years, the BCA Food Fair has been a much-loved highlight of the Barnes calendar, bringing the community together for delicious food, live music, and many memorable moments on Barnes Green.
As a small local charity, Barnes Community Association is proud to deliver a wide and ambitious programme of events and community initiatives throughout the year — including the Barnes Fair, Duck Hunt, Jumble Sale, Outdoor Stage, and a host of festive Christmas activities. None of this would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers and supporters.
In recent years, however, changes within our volunteer team, together with rising infrastructure and delivery costs, have made it increasingly challenging to run an event on the scale of the Food Fair. With a small part-time team supporting a growing programme of activities, we feel this is the right moment to pause and reflect.
So, after a fantastic run, the Food Fair will be taking a break in 2026 while we review how best to use our time and resources. This pause will allow us to focus on strengthening and expanding our wider programme — including enhancing our Christmas events, developing new projects that serve different interests and groups across the community, and rebuilding and growing our volunteer base.
We are enormously grateful to everyone who has supported the Food Fair over the years, especially to Savills, who has sponsored the event since the very beginning, and who have made it all possible.
We look forward to sharing more about our plans in the coming months. If you would like to support our work by becoming a member — or if you are interested in volunteering, whether regularly or occasionally — please visit barnes-ca.org or email fairs@barnes-ca.org. We would love to hear from you.
