Meet our Greenkeeper

Behind the scenes on Barnes Green is Russell, our dedicated Greenkeeper. Russell works year-round to keep the pond and surrounding Green looking its best for everyone who uses it.

His work includes maintaining the grass, paths and planting, preparing the Green for major community events like Barnes Fair, and responding quickly to wear and tear caused by heavy use and unpredictable weather. It’s careful and skilled work.

Russell’s role is funded through the Barnes Community Association and Richmond Council, and the support of our members plays a vital part in making this possible. Membership fees help cover the ongoing costs of caring for the Green, ensuring it remains a beautiful shared space for residents and visitors alike.

By becoming a member of the Barnes Community Association, you are directly supporting Russell’s work.
